Pre-treatment care

Avoid sun exposure and tanning: Stay out of the sun and avoid tanning beds, self-tanners, and tanning lotions for at least two to four weeks before your appointment.

Shave the area: Shave the area to be treated at least 12-24 hours before your appointment. Do not use other methods that remove the hair from the root.

Avoid waxing and plucking: Stop waxing, tweezing, and using depilatory creams for at least four weeks prior to treatment.

Discontinue certain products: Avoid products containing alpha-hydroxy and beta-hydroxy acids (AHA/BHA), retinoids, and other harsh ingredients for about a week before your appointment.

Avoid excessive heat and exercise: Avoid exercising, hot tubs, and saunas for at least 24 hours before your treatment.

Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water the day before and the day of your appointment.

Notify your provider: Inform your technician of any new medications, health changes, or if you have a history of cold sores, which may require a prescription antiviral medication.

Post-treatment care

Use sunscreen: Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen to the treated area daily to prevent hyperpigmentation.

Avoid sun exposure: Stay out of direct sunlight and tanning beds for at least a week, or as directed by your provider.

Avoid heat and friction: For 24-48 hours, avoid hot showers, hot tubs, saunas, and strenuous exercise. Also, avoid tight clothing and excessive scrubbing or pressure on the treated skin.

Use calming products: Apply ice packs, aloe vera gel, or gentle, fragrance-free moisturizers to the area to soothe the skin.

Do not pick or scratch: Avoid scratching or picking at any crusts or blisters that may form, as this can cause scarring.

Avoid certain products: Do not apply makeup, antiperspirant, perfume, or harsh chemical products to the treated area for at least 24-48 hours.

Continue shaving only: If you need to remove hair between sessions, shave only. Do not wax, tweeze, or use other depilatory creams for the duration of your treatment course.
